What is liposuction surgery for men?

Liposuction or simply ‘lipo’, precisely targets and removes areas of unwanted fat and improves the contours of the body. Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures for re-shaping the body and can help you achieve a body shape that you are happy with. Our experts in body contouring, skilfully sculpt, eliminate and remove your unwanted fat deposits in a single treatment. We treat all fatty areas, including upper and lower abdomen, calves, ankles, thighs, hips, legs, arms, knees, neck, jawline, male chests and backs.

Multiple areas can be treated in one session and our expert body surgeons can talk you through the options available during a free of charge consultation. Although liposuction can often provide very substantial improvements, it is not a weight-loss technique. Ideally, any treatment should be viewed as a compliment to regular exercise and a good diet, and not the replacement of a healthy lifestyle.

Our patient co-ordinators, nurses and surgeons have supported lots of men undergoing liposuction surgery at our private hospital. At your consultation in one of our CQC regulated clinics in Manchester, Liverpool or Newton-Le-Willows can help you find out more about the procedure and what it entails.

We have experience of delivering 5 star services to over 10,000 patients every year.

This is why our patients rate us Excellent on Trustpilot.

Liposuction surgery for men

A reduction in fat will be noticed immediately after liposuction, however you will experience some swelling which can last 1-2 weeks. The results of your procedure will gradually start to show as the swelling reduces and after 3-4 months most patients are able to appreciate the final results.

What happens during liposuction surgery?

From your first call or email, we’re here to look after you. Whether you’re still researching about liposuction surgery and would like more information, or you’re ready to meet a surgeon to see what results you can achieve, our team of patient co-ordinators are here to help.

Consultation

During the consultation with your surgeon, you will have a discussion on which areas concern you as well as the what sort of re-shape you’d like the doctor to create during the operation.

This appointment will last between 20-45 minutes and is the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions about post-surgery, aftercare or risks.

Pre-Operation

The pre-op assessment is vital to your Liposuction treatment and has a few different parts. From a medical perspective, the nurse or surgeon will examine your overall health to assess whether you are suitable for the surgery. This will come in the form of an MRSA test or even some blood and urine tests.

Your body will also be photographed for medical purposes as well as using them as comparison for pre and post-surgery, the difference between the ‘Before’ and ‘After’.

The nurse will then be able to inform you about how best to prepare for the surgery in the days leading up to it and what to expect at our private hospital. The team can then address any questions so you have all the information you need.

Surgery

You can expect a friendly atmosphere when you arrive at our private hospital in Newton-le-Willows. Your room will have an en-suite and is extremely comfortable meaning you can relax before the surgeon arrives to run you through surgery, the timeline and the aftercare you can expect at the hospital.

A quick check on your health will be taken and there will be a final form to sign for consent. At this point, you will head into surgery and have a general anaesthetic to sedate you before the 1 to 3 hour operation takes place. The timing of the op depends on the agreed amount of fat that will be removed.

Post-Surgery

1, 2 and 6 weeks after surgery you will be invited back to the clinic for some check-ups. The nurse and surgeon will study your progress to make sure you’re on track and take some pictures to demonstrate the changes in your body.

Aftercare

Once these mandatory clinic appointments have finished you may worry that you want to be able to reach out to Pall Mall, but this will not be the case! You can get reassurance by using the 24/7 direct contact line with our nurse or you can book more appointments with your surgeon. Our aim is to make sure you have a great and long-lasting experience, so we are always happy to help.

Does liposuction get rid of cellulite?

It does not get rid of cellulite or cause any new cellulite to develop. If you already have cellulite in the area that you want fat removing, it is worth noting that the improved contours or smoother lines may occasionally result in the cellulite becoming more visible.

How will I feel after liposuction surgery?

It is common to experience some swelling and bruising for the weeks following the surgery. Fluid retention is also common, but most of these symptoms will settle quickly as your body recovers. All types of surgery have the potential risk of infection, bleeding and scarring.

Why do I need to go private for liposuction surgery?

The NHS does not commonly carry out liposuction procedures, rarely in lipoedema cases, either unless there is an associated and significant distress or pain. For this reason, many women and men choose to have the liposuction procedure done at a private healthcare clinic such as Pall Mall Cosmetics. There is no waiting list, and you do not need any referral to have an operation performed.

We can ensure your safety at our CQC (care quality commission) regulated hospital in Newton-le-Willows and city centre clinics in Manchester or Liverpool. Our surgeons mostly come from the NHS, so you get the same quality of surgery, but in a safe, clean and private clinical environment.

Our surgeons also strive for excellence, being members of BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgeons). A clear demonstration of our ability to meet the gold standard of care you would expect from an elite surgical hospital.
