What can a Consultant Audiologist help with?

At Pall Mall Medical, our private Audiologist consultants offer a range of services to diagnose and treat you.

With our own diagnostic facilities in Manchester, Liverpool and Newton-le-Willows, we can look after you from start to finish.

Our private clinic has no waiting lists, meaning that you can have an initial consultation arranged with an experienced surgeon as soon as you’re ready to get in touch.

You also don’t need to ask your registered GP for a referral, allowing you to access our services much more quickly.

Carpal tunnel

We offer investigation and treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome which causes pain and tingling in the hand and fingers. In most instances, nerve conduction studies can be performed to establish the diagnosis. Surgery can be performed as a day case with a local anaesthetic.

Dupuytrens

A benign but proliferative condition affecting the hands causing an inability to straighten out fingers causing restriction of function. We offer surgical release and specialist hand therapy input to treat this condition.

Ganglions

Small, fluctuant lumps which are benign commonly appear on the back of the hand or wrist. We offer investigation and excision for treatment of this minor condition.

Joint injections

Joint injections can be performed at Pall Mall Medical to help hip and knee conditions causing pain and in early arthritic conditions. A steroid with local anaesthetic injection can give instant relief, in most instances in clinic.

Orthopaedic Treatments

Knee arthroscopy

If you have knee symptoms related to damaged meniscus or cartilage then knee arthroscopy is an appropriate procedure. Please discuss with your clinician other indications for knee arthroscopy.

Total knee replacement

A knee replacement involves replacing the worn-out areas of your knee with a smooth metal or plastic surface.

It is commonly indicated for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post traumatic wear.

A partial knee replacement option is also available for knee conditions affecting only a single compartment.

Total hip replacement

A hip replacement involves replacing the worn out femoral head and socket of the hip. It involves inserting a metal stem with a metal or ceramic head attached to it, articulating with a plastic polyethylene or ceramic cup as the socket.

A hip replacement is commonly indicated for patients with groin pain, restriction of movement, walking and inability to perform every day activities.

Sarcoma (Soft tissue and Bone tumours)

Soft tissue tumours are rare and can present as an enlarging, painful lump bigger than a golf ball.

We offer assessment of such lumps anywhere on the body including investigation, advice on management and treatment.

If symptoms are more related to bone pain then assessment and investigation can be performed with expert input.

Visco-Supplementation Injections

Like steroid injections, these have an added component called “Hyaluronic Acid”, which helps lubricate the knee and is useful for treating early arthritis. Please discuss the options for joint injections with your clinician.
